SARAH MADSEN

Providence, RI – Sarah lives sometimes in Providence, RI, and sometimes in rural Washington State, where she was also born and raised, nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Range.  She has been a writer in residence at Hedgebrook and Millay, the recipient of a Rhode Island State Council on the Arts Merit Award, and a Pushcart Prize Nominee.  For her fiction, she has also received the John Hawkes Prize, the Francis Mason Harris Award, and the Weston Award.  She earned an MFA from Brown University in 2006, where she was a Peter Kaplan Memorial Fellow.  Her work has appeared in journals such as Quarterly West, Beloit Poetry Journal, and Encyclopedia.
